Awesome/Adapt:
Posters to record elements of essay--quick check for student understanding and easy way for students to check back on things.
Gallery walk validated and added certain things
Focus on evidence (just one element)
Students could use to self-assess their writing
Color coding helps students pick apart writing (visual learners)
Might also transfer to drafting process "Oh, I need some blue here"
Group brainstorm/gallery walk
Reflection on poster
Lots of opportunities to process/reflect
Positive feedback--evident that Mindy was really listening to what we said
Mindy said "I heard one group say . . . " positive reinforcement
"Should we do this?" teacher just marks, doesn't control what students think/do

Suggestions:
Distinction between commentary and detail (discussion of paraphrase)
Use colors on poster that match color coding
Use simpler model first in order to practice
Reporting out--probably didn't need to have each group report (when do with teachers)
